The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) John Dramani Mahama has promised to establish a well-equipped Farmers’ Service Center in Ejura to support farmers in carrying out their activities more efficiently.
The Ejura-Sekyeredumasi Constituency, predominantly made up of farmers, is one of the four constituencies held by the NDC out of 47 in the Ashanti Region.
Addressing a campaign rally in Ejura during the first day of his six-day tour of the region, on November 30, Mahama also promised to introduce a fair measurement system to ensure equity in the sale of grains and cereals.
Additionally, he assured the people of Ejura that a new market would be constructed to boost trading activities and announced plans to establish a branch of the Women’s Development Bank in Ejura to provide financial support for women traders.
The NDC flagbearer further pledged that the next NDC government would grant two holidays for Muslims during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations instead of the current single day. He also promised to complete the Agenda 111 hospital initiated by the NPP government.
Mahama cautioned constituents against voting “skirt and blouse,” urging them to vote in unity to maximise the party’s impact.
“We’ll establish a Farmers’ Service Centre; 15 tractors and other farming tools will be stationed here. Farmers would be required to register for tractors, if you request for a tractor to work on your farm it will be granted. If you need fertiliser, you will go to the Farmers’ Service Center, where all your farm inputs will be delivered.
“You will pay a small fee after selling your farm produce. We will abolish the use of size five in measuring the prices of bags of maize, we will introduce size 4. We will also build a new Ejura market. We will establish one of the Women’s Development Bank centres here in Ejura. Next NDC government would grant two holidays for Muslims during Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations instead of the current single day. We don’t want any ‘skirt and blouse.”
Mahama also pledged to establish another Farmers’ Service Center in Wiomoase, in the Afigya Sekyere East Constituency, to revitalise farming activities in the area.
The National Democratic Congress flagbearer also assured constituents of his commitment to attracting investors to build factories in the constituency, aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity and boosting the local economy.
