The Ashanti regional minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, has declared the Akufo-Addo led New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration as the most successful in the nation’s history, citing unprecedented strides in infrastructure and development.
Speaking on Friday, November 29 at the commissioning of an office complex for the Ghana Audit Service at Effiduase in the Sekyere East District, he compared its achievements to those of previous governments, lauding the NPP’s efforts as transformative with the Kufuor government, inching closest in its achievements specifically in the Ashanti region.
“Nana Addo’s government performance in Ashanti Region cannot be matched by any other government. Under the 1992 democratic dispensation, it is only the former president John Agyekum Kufuor who comes close to the performance of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo so far as the Ashanti region is concerned,” he said.
He however called on citizens to maintain peace and decorum as the country approaches the 2024 general election, emphasising the importance of unity and stability in safeguarding progress.
“Elections shouldn’t be the basis of conflict in Ghana. Just go and make your choice on who to vote for. Those who are campaigning are telling you their plans, what they did when they had the opportunity to come to power, and what they can do for the country when they get the opportunity again.
“I don’t think this warrants fighting, insults and crisis in this country. I normally say that anybody who is deep in their senses will not vote for a candidate that insults. Insults are not used to win votes,” he stated.
