The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has cautioned against unauthorized structures such as kiosks, containers, and mechanic shops being set up along the newly inaugurated Obetsebi Lamptey Interchange.

The interchange, designed to ease traffic congestion at the Ring Road West and Graphic Road intersection, includes two flyovers to ensure seamless traffic flow along Ring Road West.

Speaking at the inauguration of Phase II of the project on Friday, November 29, 2024, the Minister highlighted the importance of maintaining the infrastructure’s cleanliness and aesthetic appeal.

He emphasised that the interchange represents a significant investment aimed at enhancing urban mobility and must not be compromised by encroachments.

Titus-Glover called on residents and local businesses to respect the area and work collaboratively to preserve its functionality and beauty for future generations.

“Let us renew our commitment to preserve this edifice by maintaining its infrastructure to ensure this place is kept clean and I want to humbly appeal to the two Chief Executives for Ablakuma Central.

“Last week Tuesday, during the commissioning of the flower pot interchange, I did state and I want to repeat myself. We don’t want any containers, kiosks or mechanics around the shoulders of this interchange.

“Immediately I gave the warning last week, and a coconut seller and a banana seller tested my resolve. Quickly, we had to move in and make sure that we sanitise the place. I am pleading with you people of Abossey Okai, please, let us not put benches here and say we are enjoying fresh air. Let us not put things here, let us allow the ambience and the beauty as we see now to continue till eternity,” he stated.
