Research firm, Global InfoAnalytics has forecasted a victory for John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in Ghana’s 2024 presidential elections.
The report by the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Mussa Dankwah, projects Mahama to secure 52.2% of the vote, surpassing his closest rival, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), who is expected to obtain 41.4%.
Other contenders, including independent candidate Nana Kwame Bediako, Alan Kyeremanten, and other minor candidates, are predicted to garner 3.0%, 2.5%, and 0.9% of the votes, respectively. The prediction comes with a margin of error of ±1.8%.
Parliamentary Predictions
In the parliamentary race, the NDC is anticipated to claim 150 seats, while the NPP is likely to secure 99 seats. One seat is predicted to go to an independent candidate, and 29 constituencies are currently deemed too close to call.
Regional Dynamics
The NDC is projected to win key regions, including Greater Accra, Central, Western, Volta, Western North, Bono East, Northern, Savannah, Upper West, Upper East, and Oti. Meanwhile, Dr. Bawumia is expected to dominate the Ashanti, Eastern, Ahafo, Bono, and North East regions.
Voter Turnout
The report predicts an average voter turnout of 77.6%, with variations across the regions.
