The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is projected to secure a majority in Ghana’s next parliament, according to a report by research firm Global InfoAnalytics ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The analysis predicts a significant reshuffling of parliamentary representation, with the NDC likely to win 150 seats. The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) is expected to claim 99 seats, while one seat is predicted to go to an independent candidate.
An additional 29 constituencies are classified as too close to call, highlighting potential tight races in these areas.
The report also forecasts a presidential victory for the NDC’s flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama, with 52.2% of the vote. This would position him ahead of the NPP’s candidate, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who is projected to secure 41.4% of the popular vote.
Global InfoAnalytics notes these predictions signify shifting dynamics in both parliamentary and presidential elections, reflecting growing political competition ahead of the polls.
