The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has promised equitable development across the country when elected as president.

He gave this assurance while campaigning in the Oti Region, emphasising that his government would address the needs of all Ghanaians.

The ‘It Is Possible’ campaign team visited the Oti Region on Friday as part of efforts to reach constituencies yet to be covered.

The NPP flagbearer led the team to the Biakoye, Buem, and Guan constituencies.

Both the Biakoye and Buem constituencies have consistently voted for the NDC in parliamentary and presidential elections. However, Dr Bawumia is determined to improve the NPP’s performance in these areas.

While addressing residents in the Buem constituency, Dr Bawumia assured them of equitable development and promised to establish a ginger processing factory to boost the local economy.

“I want agriculture to be my number one priority as the president of this country. Every area has its specialised crop in terms of farming, and we want to have a processing factory for that crop. Here in Buem, I know you are indulged in ginger farming. We will establish a factory to process the ginger for export. We will introduce a District Mechanisation Centre to help farmers in every district,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Twafohene of the Buem Traditional Council commended the NPP government for its developmental initiatives in the area.

“We stand here today in appreciation of the development that your government the NPP has brought to Buem. We waited for infrastructure that would ease our burden and open pathways to opportunity. Today we can finally say that Buem has seen its first asphalt road,” he stated.

The tour concluded with a visit to the SALL constituency, comprising Santrokofi, Likpe, Lolobi, and Akpafu. This constituency, created after the 2020 elections, will have the opportunity to elect its first parliamentary representative in the upcoming polls.

Dr Bawumia met with chiefs and residents of SALL, encouraging them to support the NPP’s parliamentary candidate while assuring them of fair representation and development.
