President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has stated that he has fulfilled 80% of the promises made to Ghanaians since assuming office and emphasised the need to hand over power to a reliable successor who can continue his developmental projects.

Speaking during an engagement with the clergy in Koforidua, President Akufo-Addo urged elders and leaders in the country to openly disclose their political affiliations to the public.

“Former President Mahama says that the selection is between him and Dr. Bawumia so I shouldn’t interfere. Am I no longer a citizen of Ghana? I am a citizen of Ghana before the president. I will continue to be a citizen of Ghana after I stop being president. Each one of us is affected by the decision that is going to be made. In my opinion, all leaders should disclose who they think Ghanaians should vote for”

President Akufo Addo further revealed that the National Democratic Congress(NDC) flagbearer’s criticisms of his hard work were a clear indication that he would collapse and cancel his initiatives.

“I am looking for a person who will continue the policies we started and add new ones to it not someone who criticises all I have done from 2017. This clearly shows that he will come and cancel all those policies; Agenda 111, Free SHS or even Railway Development. We saw this when several policies that Kufuor began were cancelled when the NDC took over”

President Akufo-Addo added that he has done his best to bring rapid development to his home region the Eastern Region as a president.

The president touting his achievements under the 1 District 1 Factory initiative indicated that about 13 factories of the 169 1D1F factories are operational in the Eastern Region with 152 factories still under construction.

“The One District, One Factory Policy was to allow us to transform the industrial landscape of the country. Today we have a total of 169 factories completed under the 1D1F project. There are another 152 in the process of construction.

“The number of factories in operation in the Eastern Region is 13. You bear witness that I didn’t disappoint you. I have done my best to bring rapid development to my region”, he stated.
