The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) has assured its members and the broader business community of a conducive environment for commerce before, during, and after the December general elections.

This reassurance follows a meeting between GUTA and the National Election Security Taskforce at the Ghana Police Headquarters in Accra.

Key stakeholders, including representatives from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and the Electoral Commission, were present to discuss measures to ensure stability during the electoral period.

Speaking to the media after the meeting in Accra on Thursday, GUTA President, Dr Joseph Obeng, urged the business community and foreign investors to maintain confidence in Ghana’s stability, emphasising that the country will remain peaceful throughout the election process.

He further stated, “When there is an issue here, it is the business community that will be affected most. Our properties are immobile; we cannot move with them, and when there is a problem, it means that we all have to come together to support the security to deliver.”
