The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has reiterated the Commission’s commitment to promoting peace throughout the electoral process in preparation for the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the signing ceremony of the Peace Pact by presidential candidates on Thursday, November 28, 2024, Jean Mensa expressed confidence in the EC’s efforts to ensure a stable, violence-free election.

Mensa emphasized the EC’s deliberate focus on transparency, fairness, and accountability in its operations, noting that these measures are essential for fostering public trust and ensuring a credible electoral process.

The EC Chairperson also called on all stakeholders, including political parties, civil society organizations, and the electorate, to uphold peace and unity to ensure a smooth and successful electoral process.

“As a commission, I am pleased to note that we have walked the talk of peace. Mindful of the fact that attaining peaceful electoral outcomes will depend on our actions.

“We have, right from the start of our electoral processes, consciously operated and conducted ourselves in a manner that will ensure peace before, during and after the elections,” she stated.
