The Mpraeso Circuit Court presided over by Her Ladyship Adwoa Akyamaah Ofosu, has granted bail to the 27 accused persons in the Abetifi Chieftaincy dispute.
The 27, who were arrested for the alleged abduction of the Abetifi Chief, were denied bail by the court two weeks ago.
Their lawyers’ plea for bail this time around was considered by the court, which granted them bail to the sum of GHS200,000 with two sureties and one justification.
The accused persons are to reappear on December 19, 2024.
Captain Nkrabeah Effah Darteh, counsel for the accused persons, noted in an interview after the session, “I am so happy that the law is working. I think the judge has been very fair and I commend her. She listened to arguments on both sides and she put the law where it ought to be.
“So I am happy that 27 people, each of them, have been granted court bail and we are coming back on 19th December. The law is at work. That is what we want in this country.”
