President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to inaugurate the redeveloped Koforidua Jackson Park project today in the Eastern Regional Capital Koforidua as part of his ‘Thank-you’ tour of the region.
The over eight-million Ghana Cedis project funded through the Ghana Secondary Cities Support Programme (GSCSP) by the World Bank which commenced in 2021 was designed to include precast blocks paving of the 15,000m square of the park, volleyball and basketball courts, a gym, public and VIP stands with stores, and a restaurant with a Pub and TV theatre amongst others.
Ahead of the inauguration, the Free Senior High School Secretariat organised a float through the principal streets of Koforidua to show appreciation to the president for what they describe as a monumental policy.
Nana Afrah Sika Mensah, the National Deputy Coordinator of the Free SHS who spoke to Channel One News called on Ghanaians to vote to protect the continuation of the Free SHS policy.
“We are here to show appreciation to the president for implementing this flashy programme which is the Free Senior High School Programme. Come December 7, we want every one of you to vote massively for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to show appreciation to the president for implementing the policy.
“We want a peaceful election. Whatever your party stands for, please go and vote but we as Free SHS Officers entreat our people to vote for Dr Bawumia. We have seen a lot of policies that didn’t last but we are campaigning because we want the policy to continue. If we want a digital transformation of the whole sector, then let’s vote for Dr Bawumia,” she stated.
