A devastating fire broke out at dawn on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, in Axim-Brewie, a community in the Nzema East Municipality of the Western Region.
The inferno is reported to have claimed six lives, including a husband, wife, and their three children, with the victims comprising two males and four females.
Three other individuals sustained varying degrees of injuries and are currently receiving medical attention.
Among the deceased are three children, believed to be between the ages of five and ten years. The fire also destroyed properties worth thousands of Ghana Cedis.
The names of the deceased are yet to be identified.
Kwame Asare, one of the injured victims currently receiving treatment at the Axim Government Hospital, recounted the tragic incident. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
