The Municipal Chief Executive for La Nkwantanang-Madina, Jennifer Dede Afegbedzi, has criticised the Member of Parliament for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, for failing to lobby for the rehabilitation of the Danfa road.
She asserts that instead, Sosu led residents in a demonstration against the poor road conditions on the Ayi-Mensah-Danfa-Otinibi stretch in October 2021.
Speaking at the site where the rehabilitation of the stretch under the government’s District Road Improvement Programme Programme (DRIP) is ongoing, Jennifer Afegbedzi stated that the government is committed to improving the road network in the area.
“This is evident for you to see. This road was in a very deplorable state but today we can drive very smoothly. We have done grading and gravelling, and we have now compacted so at this level we are left with the sealing. Thanks to the parliamentary candidate, he on his own has arranged some sealings for us to be able to seal this particular road which is the Danfa road. Maybe if people want to know, this is the road that the member of parliament demonstrated on.
“Instead of going to lobby for the road to be done, he was leading the youth to vandalise people’s properties and unfortunately, we lost a pregnant woman in the course of that demonstration. We thank the President for the machine that he brought, we have done so much with it and there are many more to do,” she stated.
