Former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, has urged constituents of Gomoa Central to avoid voting “skirt and blouse” in the 2024 elections.
Joining the campaign tour of the NDC’s Vice Presidential candidate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, in the Central Region, Ofosu Ampofo highlighted the importance of unity in voting. He referenced the current parliamentary standoff, stressing that the NDC needs a solid majority in Parliament to avoid such challenges in the future.
He also criticized the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the prevailing economic hardships, encouraging the constituents to vote for the NDC’s presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, and the parliamentary candidate, Kwame Deen Yawson, to bring about meaningful change.
“I hope you have all seen what is happening in Parliament now with the huge standoff. As we go into the 2024 elections, vote for President Mahama and parliamentary candidate Kwame Deen Yawson because when the NDC comes into power, your parliamentary candidate will be the one lobbying for you, so avoid skirt and blouse. Voting skirt and blouse will not help. It will rather worsen our plights as constituents.
“When NDC was in government, you could spend as little as 5 cedis on food, but today that is not the case as things have skyrocketed. Today the minimum wage is 18 cedis and it is not enough. The NPP’s eight-year reign has seen severe hardship on Ghanaians. Mahama promised to fix dumsor and he did just that,” he stated.
