Aggrieved workers of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) have served a notice to strike on December 2 over the government’s inability to grant their demands and address their grievances.
A November 20 letter signed by the National Vice Chairman of the senior staff of the GHA, Emmanuel Asina, to the National Labour Commission, indicated that the intended strike is a way to demand a “cessation of the implementation of the National Roads Authority Act 2024, (Act 1118) pending consultation with all stakeholders, especially the workers of the Ghana Highway Authority.”
The aggrieved workers letter is also demanding a “revocation of all appointments made under the Act, (Act 1118)” including the “removal of Ing. I. K. Mensah, the GHA Board Chairman and Ing. Collins B. Donkor (retired), the GHA Chief Executive.”
The government has been given up to November 29 to address the demands of the workers.
