Traffic congestion on the Dawhenya-Kpone road has significantly improved after the morning rush hour.
The notorious traffic congestion that typically plagues the area during peak hours has eased, providing much-needed relief to drivers and passengers alike.
Earlier in the day around 5 am, the gridlock caused delays and frustration for many.
However, as the rush hour subsided, the flow of vehicles improved, allowing for smoother travel through the area.
Commuters and drivers decried the daily struggle and called for government intervention.
Charles Brobbey, a driver told Channel One News’ Charles Owusu Kumi that “It is really frustrating. It is Sunday to Sunday. you have to deal with it and the alternative route is very bad so you don’t know what to do but deal with it. You wake up at 4 am, you are supposed to report 7:30 am look at the time it is 7: 30am and look at where I am. I am going to Tema Community 9.”
“The government should come to our aid and look at the road for us. It is frustrating. Sometimes you can do two hours and it varies…When you are coming back home too you get home at 11 pm.”
Harriet, a commuter noted “Depending on what time you get here, I am sometimes stuck for two hours in the morning and come out depending on the time I arrive in this area. The traffic is ready almost every day unless you set off at dawn. You always get to the office tired and get home also tired. If you have early morning meetings it means you need to set off at dawn and that impacts work.”
A driver, Isaac Nortey added “It is very hectic for me because I have used this road for about five years and since five years the kind of traffic I have experienced on this road is unbearable and I don’t know what to say. Everyday you will come here you will see them digging one side like they are constructing the road but you will not see anything.”
“So we are pleading with the government. They should come and take care of this road because this road is an ECOWAS road and it leads to so many countries around us and it is a disgrace for us.”
