Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has officially commissioned a watermelon processing factory in Walewale, located in the North East Region of Ghana.
The factory, part of the government’s One District One Factory initiative, is expected to provide employment for over 2,000 farmers, who will cultivate 2,000 acres of farmland.
During the commissioning ceremony, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the completion of the project highlights the NPP’s commitment to making bold decisions, despite scepticism from the opposition NDC.
“What is very very clear is that we in the NPP, we believe in possibilities, in making things happen. Our opponents on the other hand don’t believe in possibilities.
“They believe in impossibilities, that is the mindset. When you follow all the things we have tried to do, and how we have been discouraged from doing them, you will understand me.
“When we said we were bringing Free SHS, they told us it was 419. They said it was not possible, but we made it possible. And when we said, One District One Factory, they doubted us again. They challenged us. But today under One District, One Factory, we have completed over 150 factories in Ghana.
“One of the factories we have completed in this over 150 is the Walewale Watermelon Processing Factory. And remember, when we started this process there was a lot of doubt about whether we will be able to deliver to this factory.
“Only a few weeks ago, one of the members of the opposition party in this constituency said that we had put on an empty container and that it was not a factory. Today I would like him to come and inspect the factory himself.”
