The Member of Parliament (MP) for Sekondi, Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has expressed confidence in his track record, emphasising that he has fulfilled his responsibilities effectively over his two terms in office.

Speaking with Channel One TV’s Akwasi Agyei Anim on Community Forum, the MP highlighted his dedication to representing Sekondi in Parliament and contributing to national governance.

Reflecting on his performance, he noted that his efforts during his first term earned him recognition as one of the most outstanding MPs.

“The primary responsibility of the MP is to represent the people. You need to have a stake in the governance of our country. So, you elect one person to represent a particular constituency to contribute to our governance.

“I guess with that I have discharged that duty quite creditably over the party’s two terms. During the first term, when I was a ‘low-key’ member of parliament, I guess the work that Odikro did in accessing the first 10 members of parliament was clear and I was adjourned as one of the most outstanding MPs and people look at that.

“During the second term, the president made me the Deputy Minister for Energy under Dr Prempeh, people look at that and of course the other responsibilities which are about how you lobby to get development projects into your constituency and with that the people of Sekondi know the work that we have done in that regard,” he stated.
