In southern Lebanon, Israel continues heavy bombing in the Tyre district. The Israeli military has issued new evacuation threats, exacerbating fears of a broader regional conflict.
In Gaza, Israeli forces carried out two waves of attacks in the northern regions, targeting Beit Lahiya and Gaza City’s Sheikh Radwan neighbourhood.
Palestinian health authorities report 88 fatalities in these strikes, further raising the civilian death toll.
Since October 7, 2023, at least 44,056 Palestinians have been killed and 104,286 wounded in Gaza.
Meanwhile, Israeli casualties from the Hamas-led attacks on the same day stand at 1,139, with over 200 captives still unaccounted for.
In Lebanon, where the conflict has spilled over, Israeli airstrikes have killed 3,558 people and injured 15,123, according to Lebanese officials.
Amid the escalation, US envoy Amos Hochstein met with Prime Minister Netanyahu to discuss a potential ceasefire in Lebanon. This follows a statement from Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem, who called for a complete ceasefire and demanded the preservation of Lebanon’s sovereignty as a condition for peace.
The US Senate has rejected a motion to block arms shipments to Israel, reaffirming Washington’s support for its ally. This decision comes shortly after the United States vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, drawing criticism from humanitarian groups and several UN member states.
