The Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr Dacosta Aboagye has announced plans for an upcoming stakeholder engagement, which will include private health facilities.
This comes ahead of the government’s initiative to provide free dialysis treatment for kidney patients, set to begin on December 1, 2024.
Dr Aboagye explained that the engagement would allow the government to hear the concerns of various stakeholders and address them to ensure the smooth implementation of the initiative.
Recently, the Private Health Facilities Association of Ghana urged the government to scrap import duties on dialysis machines in response to the initiative’s announcement.
Speaking in Kumasi during the Second Edition of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital Management-Senior Specialist/Consultants Consultative Forum, Dr Aboagye clarified that the free dialysis initiative would include recognised private health facilities.
