Geo Anointing Construction Limited has locked up the Galilea M/A Basic School for the second time over the GA South Assembly’s failure to pay money owed to the contractor after completing a six-unit classroom block at the school.

In October 2024, the contractor locked up the structure over non-payment with the GETFund promising to pay in two weeks but has since refused to pay.

The spokesperson of the group Emmanuel Addo Okai said several efforts to get the GETFund to pay the money have yielded no result hence their action.

“The reason we are here is simple. This is a six-unit classroom block and a contract was awarded to us by the GetFund in 2017 we completed the construction works in 2018 and handed them over to the Assembly. They moved into it without paying us. In 2019 banks started chasing us for their money.

“I told the bank that I had not been paid and they doubted so they sent people to come and verify indeed they found out that students were occupying the facility which is an indication that I have been paid but that is not the case. They seized two of my properties with promises to return them once I paid the debt,” the Public Relations Officer for Geo Anointing Construction Limited said.

“We came here sometime in October this year and locked up the place but the Municipal Assembly intervened with promises of prompting the GetFund to pay in two weeks but until now nothing has been done about it,” Addo Okai said.

The company is also cautioning the Ghana Education Service against breaking into the facility adding that failure to adhere to this directive will warrant a court action.

“We have locked up the entire six-unit block but we are cautioning the Ghana Education Service against breaking into it since going contrary would warrant legal action” he noted.

“Since 2019 I have not been paid but even if we are paid today the money has lost its value” Addo Okai the Public Relations Officer said.

Students of the school were moved from the classroom by school authorities to make way for the locking of the facility.
