The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover, has directed the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly to provide round-the-clock security at the Flowerpot Interchange to deter hawkers.
This follows a viral video showing the Minister personally dismantling tables and chairs set up by hawkers who ignored previous warnings to stop selling in the area.
Speaking to Channel One News, Titus-Glover emphasized that the government will not tolerate such disruptions, stressing the importance of maintaining the interchange’s cleanliness and order.
“The question is how do we sustain the heat on those hawkers? I have instructed the Chief Executive for Ledzokuku, Hon. Mordecai Quarshie to position security 24-hours at that place so we make sure we don’t get hawkers to turn the whole place into a business hub.
“So that is the firm instruction I have given to him. There are a couple of police who are along the interchange, making sure that crime is prevented so I engaged them ‘Look, you are here to prevent crime but in as much as you are doing that kindly assist us and also make sure that nobody comes to sell anything under the interchange.”
Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover on Wednesday, November 20 destroyed the tables of vendors at the newly inaugurated Flower Pot Interchange in Accra.
This came just a day after the official opening of the interchange by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
During the inauguration ceremony in Accra on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, Titus-Glover emphasised the importance of maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the interchange.
He urged all and sundry to ensure that the area remained free of kiosks and containers to preserve its beauty and functionality.
