The People’s National Congress (PNC) says the party is open to engagements with various political parties before deciding which one to support in the 2024 General Elections.
This comes after their disqualification by the Electoral Commission. Although the matter is currently before the Supreme Court, the party fears the legal process may be prolonged, prompting the need for immediate action.
Speaking at a press briefing, the party’s National Chairman, Samson Asaaki Awingobit, revealed that a National Executive meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 25, to decide on which political party to align with.
“The PNC National Executives will not sit down and allow the 2024 General Election to come and pass without deciding as to where we want to go. We are open to discussions. The two major political parties want to form a government but they cannot form a government when PNC doesn’t throw our weight to any of them.
“We have the numbers that can make the 50%+1. We cannot pretend to say we are neutral for the 2024 elections to come and pass without the PNC making its position known. Monday’s meeting is going to be a crucial day for declaration. We will discuss and the majority will tell us where they would want us to throw our support to.
“From now to Monday, the party is open for engagements. Anybody who has the interests of one vote, two votes, the million votes of the PNC, we are open for talks”
