The two juveniles involved in the alleged killing of a 16-year-old BECE graduate at Anloga in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region have, for the second time, been remanded in police custody while the Asokwa District Court awaits the arrival of the Case docket from the High Court.

The family of the deceased has expressed concerns about the financial burden of travelling to and from the court, which they say is straining their livelihood.

According to the family, Dennis Owusu Ansah died shortly after being allegedly stabbed and rushed to the hospital. The main suspect, a 16-year-old JHS 3 student, reportedly stabbed Dennis during an altercation, leading to his death.

The incident resulted in the arrest of the main suspect and two friends who were present at the scene. However, one of the friends was later granted bail following further investigations.

During their first appearance before the Asokwa District Court, the main accused, a 16-year-old girl, was charged with murder and causing harm, while the second suspect, a 15-year-old, was charged with abetment of murder.

Victor Owusu Ansah, the brother of the deceased told Channel One News after Wednesday’s court proceedings that “We were told that the docket has been sent to the High Court so since the docket is not around, the court cannot proceed with the case. The judge after asking the names of the accused’s parents and after a consultation with the counsels from both sides, adjourned the case to 3rd December.

“Not all the family members are from Kumasi, some of us are from Akyenakrom, a town near Ejisu, others are from Agona Gyamase, a town close to Mampong. Thus, we come from Agona Gyamase and Akyenakrom, gather at Oforikrom and drive to this location, which is costly. We expect the court to be hasty with the investigations and proceedings.”
