Goosie Tanoh, the Chairman of the Employment and Job Creation Committee for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto, has pledged that the next NDC administration will significantly lower electricity tariffs for both households and industries.
He indicated that the NDC plans to implement a structured strategy that includes varying tariffs to address the high costs associated with power supply.
In an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV on The Point of View, Tanoh emphasised that households would incur different tariff rates compared to industries.
He is confident that this approach if executed, will enhance the competitiveness and profitability of businesses.
“One of the suggestions is to create time of use differential tariffs so that if off-peak, you pay less, very innovative product to have cheap power,” he stated.
Adding “You know our problem as a country, we have the inverse of most industrialised countries. Households pay less than industries. In most industrialised countries, households pay more than industries. [We want differential tariffs] that allow big heavies [companies] to have more competitive power prices. Expand jobs, create revenue, reinvest and expand.”
