Goosie Tanoh, Chairman of the Employment and Job Creation Committee for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Manifesto has expressed confidence in former President John Dramani Mahama’s ability to restore legitimacy to governance in Ghana.

Responding to how the NDC intended to fix Ghanaians’ despondency in politics and politicians on the Point of View on Channel One TV on Monday, Tanoh emphasised the critical role Mahama could play in revitalising the country’s democratic institutions.

“Mahama has an incredible opportunity, and that opportunity is also to restore legitimacy to governance,” Tanoh stated.

He highlighted the importance of a potential NDC majority in parliament, which he believes would work diligently to regain the trust of Ghanaians in parliamentary democracy and the executive branch.

“With the parliament hopefully an NDC majority, that parliament also must work very hard to restore the confidence of Ghanaians in parliamentary democracy and the executive branch,” he added.

Tanoh also expressed hope that the judiciary would follow suit and work towards regaining its credibility.

“Hopefully, the judiciary will learn from that and also begin to legitimize itself in a way that it has lost credibility in this period,” he noted.
