Anthony Karbo, a senior aide on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has hailed former President John Agyekum Kufuor’s endorsement of Dr. Bawumia as a strong affirmation of his suitability to lead Ghana in the upcoming December elections.

This comes amid criticism of the former president’s endorsement. During an interview on Sunday, November 17, Kufuor called on Ghanaians to support Dr. Bawumia, describing him as the best candidate to steer the country forward.

However, Alan Kyerematen, presidential candidate of the Movement for Change and a former NPP member, has expressed disapproval of Kufuor’s stance.

Speaking on Oyerepa TV on Monday, November 18, Kyerematen argued that the endorsement undermines the neutrality expected of a statesman.

In a separate interview on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, Karbo defended Kufuor’s position, stating that it highlights Dr. Bawumia’s competence and vision for Ghana’s future.

“Kufuor’s endorsement reflects his confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s track record and ability to lead Ghana toward economic prosperity,” Karbo said.

He urged critics to view the endorsement as a positive signal of support from a respected statesman for the NPP flagbearer.
