GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited has dismissed recent media reports claiming that the Aboso Glass Factory, located in Tarkwa in the Western Region, has been sold for GHS 8 million for scrap.
The Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, Kofi Jumah clarified that the company, which assumed control of the Aboso Glass Factory in 2019, has not sold the facility.
He rather asserted that GIHOC is working to revitalise the plant, with plans to resume operations by 2025.
Speaking exclusively to Citi Business News, Kofi Jumah stressed that the company was committed to strengthening the factory’s infrastructure and operations, dismissing the false claims as inaccurate and misleading.
“One story from one of your sister stations is that we sold over Aboso for GHC 8 million, I mean, it’s a joke I just laughed it off. I don’t think attention should be given to that.
“If people are that gullible let them take it. One thing is that, eventually we are going to have a huge factory there. We’ve spent a lot of resources and time, moving from Accra to Aboso alone is not easy,” he stated.
