The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has urged residents of Walewale to vote for John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming December 7 elections.
She referenced the protests by pensioners demanding a total exemption of their investments from the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme as a key reason to support the NDC.
Additionally, she criticised President Akufo-Addo for unveiling a statue in his honour amidst the country’s economic challenges. Prof Opoku-Agyemang made the call during a community engagement in Walewale in the North East Region.
“Even the older people have their share when they have saved all their lives. Never in our history have we seen old people go to the Ministry of Finance to beg for their own money. More importantly, we want peace in our homes.
“It would have even become a fault in the hands of our predecessors, here I think of J.J Rawlings may his soul rest in peace, Atta Mills may his soul rest in peace, and our own John Dramani Mahama, I doubt if any of them would have felt that the important thing to do at this time is to go and unveil statues to themselves and again to appeal that we all come together, vote and bring in a government.
“He’s not an angel; he’s an ordinary human being and we know he will do his best by his people and leave a good legacy. This person is no other person than His Excellency John Dramani Mahama”, she stated.
