Two persons have been injured following a clash between the Ghana Immigration Service and residents in Shia a border community in the Ho Municipality over the Immigration’s handling of firearms.
According to an official from the Ghana Immigration Service, who wants to remain anonymous, the misunderstanding began Thursday, November 14, after residents in Shia questioned the legality of the Ghana Immigration Services carrying firearms in the community.
Although the misunderstanding was resolved at the chief’s palace, the agitated youth confronted the Immigration officers and blocked roads leading to the clash.
Although two persons have been confirmed injured and receiving treatment, the Ghana Immigration Service says, it will continue to dialogue with the community to ensure peace.
