The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the current power outage (dumsor) situation being witnessed in the Afram Plains and Kwahu enclave will not deter them from carrying out their goodwill messages to Ghanaians in those Constituencies.
The leadership of the party suspected sabotage after power was disconnected at Maame Krobo market square in the Afram Plains South Constituency and Kwahu Tafo in the Abetifi Constituency where the director of elections was holding community engagements
The Eastern Regional Secretary of the NDC, Baba Jamal Konneh who spoke to Channel One News on the situation said Ghanaians are yearning for change and no amount of sabotage can reverse the will of the people.
“This is a clear case of ‘dumsor’ because we all know that ‘dumsor’ is back. They are hiding behind the elections trying to push ‘dumsor’ to next year. I wouldn’t be surprised if ‘dumsor’ resurfaces next year.
“If it is not ‘dumsor’ then you and I will accept that it is sabotage because the lights went off straight from Afram Plains where we started and when we got here in Tafo the lights went off again. I understand they went for a standby generator; somebody came to cut the line 3 times. We had to bring in security personnel to guard the generator. It is a sabotage.”
“I’m surprised seeing this crowd. We gave the 5 pm, it is almost 9 pm and they are still here. If Bryan boasts that he controls Abetifi, it is a lie. This is Abetifi Constituency. Look at the number of people that have gathered here since 5 pm waiting to see Omane Boamah. It tells you that the people are suffering, eager for change and are going to vote for change. NDC is going to win the elections with one touch. We are going to leave no stone unturned.”
