A fire broke out in the early hours of Thursday, November 14, 2024, at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Odawna in Accra, destroying more than 15 structures before being brought under control by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
Thanks to the swift response from firefighters, the flames were contained before they could reach a nearby warehouse and over 200 other structures, averting further damage.
Eyewitnesses reported that the fire erupted close to the site of a recent blaze that had also damaged multiple wooden structures in the area.
The GNFS has launched an investigation into the cause of the fire and is urging residents and business owners to follow fire safety protocols to reduce the risk of future incidents in this vulnerable area.
