The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, has urged Ghanaians to steer the country back on course by rejecting Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in favour of former President John Dramani Mahama.
Dr. Omane Boamah argued that a vote for Mahama is essential to addressing Ghana’s worsening economic situation.
Questioning the NPP’s economic record, Dr. Omane Boamah criticized the party’s management under Vice President Bawumia, who chairs the Economic Management Team.
He pointed to rising inflation, increasing petroleum prices, the cedi’s devaluation, and the surging national debt as evidence that the NPP’s claims of economic expertise are unfounded.
Dr. Omane Boamah made these remarks while speaking to NDC supporters and residents at Akyem Tafo in the Abuakwa North Constituency of the Eastern Region during his five-day campaign tour of the region.
“An economist who supervises the national debt to skyrocket from 102 billion to above 700 billion, is that one too an economist? An economist who supervises bonds; the most treasured, stable and secure investments that one can engage in, said that citizens are given dual haircuts, is that one too an economist? That one cannot be a serious economist. That one can only be a theoretical economist.
“Going into the 2024 elections, three weeks, three days from now, we need the man with experience, John Dramani Mahama. We need the visionary John Mahama to come and reset the nation, to come and save the nation, to come and create the needed jobs, to come and save you from the difficulties that have afflicted you.
“The money you would have used to buy fuel under President Mahama’s administration now can only buy 1 gallon divided by 4.5. One gallon under President Mahama equates to 1 litre today. Is this one too an economist?
“And they want to tell us that they have a solid team, a solid team indeed. A solid team my foot”, he stated.
Change your voting pattern, vote for NPP – Bawumia to Ejura Sekyedumase
