The Presidential Candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), Philip Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada, has been disqualified from the 2024 general elections.

This was announced by the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa on Tuesday, November 12, 2024.

According to the Electoral Commission, his disqualification was due to some errors and irregularities in the nomination forms presented by the party’s flagbearer.

Roman Fada, a well-known radio and TV personality with Accra-based Atinka FM, confirmed his candidacy in an interview on the network on Monday, November 4, 2024, to succeed the late Akua Donkor, the founder and flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party, until her demise on October 29, 2024.

The commission wrote to the GFP requesting it to present a flagbearer to contest in the 2024 general elections. However, in addressing the media on Tuesday, November 12, the EC noted the GFP flagbearer cannot contest the elections because of the irregularities identified in the nomination forms.

However, the commission stated that the respective positions of the other parties would remain.
