The Asokwa District Court has remanded two juveniles into custody for their alleged involvement in the killing of a 16-year-old boy at Anloga in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti region.
According to reports, the main suspect allegedly stabbed the deceased during an altercation. The incident happened on Monday, November 4, 2024.
Appearing before the court for the first time, the prime suspect, a 16-year-old girl was charged with murder and causing injury to the deceased victim, while the second suspect, who is 15 years old, was charged with abetment of murder.
Speaking after the court proceedings, the brother of the deceased, Victor Owusu-Ansah, expressed confidence in the justice delivery system after the court denied a plea for bail for the suspects.
“The suspects were charged with three cases. The lawyer of the accused persons pleaded for bail, which was however denied following the prosecutor’s argument that granting bail to the accused persons would be insensitive to the deceased’s family. The accused persons have been remanded in Police Custody at Sofoline Police Station.
The case has been adjourned to November 20, 2024.
