Passengers have reported long delays and increased travel costs as they are forced to seek alternative routes.

Stephen Dzaka, a traveller noted “We crossed safely with the use of the ferry when it was available and when it broke down, we were faced with several challenges. The canoe is the only means for us now to cross the lake and we are overloaded in the canoe which is very risky. We only urge the government to quickly ensure the ferry is fixed and brought back here before any disaster occurs.”

Gloria Gbadagba, another traveler also indicated “Our travels were easier and safer with the ferry. We easily send goods across but now we are charged even more just to transport our goods and customers end up incurring such charges. We are urging for the immediate fixing of the ferry.”

Kande Sumaila, a traveller underscored “The unavailability of the ferry is a big blow to us. We now use the canoe and it is very risky. Weather changes when using the canoe make it even riskier especially for those who can’t swim. We only plead for the ferry to be fixed.”
