With his second term drawing to a close, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has shared a message of gratitude with the people of Ghana, expressing his profound appreciation for the opportunity to lead the nation for two consecutive terms.
Reflecting on his journey on Sunday, November 10, President Akufo-Addo acknowledged the challenges and triumphs of his tenure, highlighting his pride in the progress Ghana has made under his leadership and the bonds forged through collective efforts to advance the nation.
President Akufo-Addo’s path to the presidency was neither quick nor easy. After two previous attempts to win the office in 2008 and 2012, both of which ended in narrow defeats, he persevered, launching his third bid in 2016.
With a campaign centred on economic reform, anti-corruption, and national development, Akufo-Addo successfully won the presidency, defeating then-incumbent President John Dramani Mahama.
In 2020, Akufo-Addo secured re-election, achieving what many saw as a resounding endorsement of his leadership and policies.
Reflecting on this journey, President Akufo-Addo described the privilege of serving as a dream realised, rooted in his lifelong passion for public service and commitment to Ghana.
His message conveyed his gratitude not only for the mandate given to him by the Ghanaian people but also for their support throughout his two terms, during which he faced both achievements and obstacles.
“As I near the end of my time in office, I want to take a moment to express my deep gratitude to you, the people of Ghana, for giving me the opportunity to serve as your president for two successive consecutive terms.
“This journey has been both challenging and rewarding, and I am immensely proud of all we have accomplished together in agriculture, in governance, and in the lives we have touched.”
