The Deputy Director in charge of Special Duties for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yaw Brogya Genfi, has made claims that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is feeling the pressure in the Ashanti Region as the NDC’s campaign message resonates strongly with voters.

Speaking on Eyewitness News on Monday, November 11, Genfi expressed confidence in the NDC’s impact in the NPP stronghold, emphasising that their campaign is successfully reminding residents of the NDC’s achievements and plans.

Highlighting the accomplishments of former President John Mahama, Genfi said that the campaign has been focusing on Mahama’s track record and future vision.

“Ashanti has been very receptive, and the message is drilling down. We are seeing that our opponents are panicking. We have been talking about how the NDC developed the Ashanti Region any time we are in government. We are also reminding the people of what [former] President Mahama stands for, what he has done before and what he intends to do when he wins power.

“We have been talking about how we are going to improve on the free SHS programme by abolishing the double track system, realigning the corruption-ridden feeding system of the free SHS,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Flagbearer of the party, John Mahama, is also in the Ashanti Region campaigning for vote in the NPP stronghold.

Earlier in the morning of Monday, November 11, the former president met with the clergy in the region where he laid before them his policies, particularly for the economy and also free SHS.

Additionally, the national chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has also been in the region canvassing votes for the party ahead of the December 7 elections.
