The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Director of Elections and IT, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has called on party supporters to closely monitor the actions of the Electoral Commission (EC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on election day to prevent any potential manipulation of results.
Dr. Omane Boamah emphasized that the vigilance of NDC agents is crucial to ensuring a free, fair, and peaceful election.
He instructed party agents to insist that presiding officers adhere to CI 127 by posting the pink sheets—official polling results—at each polling station immediately after vote counting.
Speaking to supporters in Otoase within the Ayensuano constituency in the Eastern Region, Dr Omane Boamah urged vigilance at all levels.
He raised concerns about whether the EC had adequately prepared for the elections, specifically questioning if the commission had procured and distributed over 40,600 glue sticks required for presiding officers to post pink sheets at each voting centre as mandated.
Dr. Omane Boamah’s remarks aimed to galvanize support for the NDC and its presidential candidate, John Mahama, while ensuring all procedural measures are observed to maintain the integrity of the election process.
“At 3 pm ensure you start moving to your polling station so that by 5 pm when the ballot papers are being sorted and counted you will be present. While results are being declared, take videos. After declaration, ensure the presiding officer paste a copy of the pink sheet at the polling station.
“This is what CI 127 dictates. Because CI 127 dictates this, we want to ask the Electoral Commission; have you distributed 40,600 glues to all the potential polling stations where elections will be conducted on December 7?
“If the EC has not procured these glues, the EC must procure them because the pink sheet must be pasted. We will ensure the pink sheets are pasted. After the declaration of the results, as many of you can go to the constituency collation centre because no army has been able to defeat a determined people. Go there peacefully to protect your vote.”, he emphasised.
