Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, has announced that significant changes are coming to the country’s public schools.
Speaking in Accra on Sunday on behalf of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Adutwum highlighted ongoing transformations in Ghana’s education system, stating, “Many of our schools and uniforms are yellow and brown—some even call it ‘kokonte’—but that won’t be the case for much longer.”
Dr. Adutwum assured Ghanaians that, under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, the government will continue building on the positive initiatives started by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
“We’re transforming education in Ghana! Soon, you’ll be eager to get into public schools,” he declared, highlighting the government’s focus on improving educational quality and accessibility.
The Minister’s remarks come as part of a broader strategy to enhance the learning environment and ensure that all Ghanaian children receive a quality education.
With plans for new infrastructure, updated curricula, and better resources, the government aims to make public schools more attractive to parents and students alike.
