Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, the National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of transporting supporters from outside districts to inflate attendance at their recent political rallies in the Ashanti Region, despite these events being held in what is traditionally considered an NPP stronghold.
Speaking to party members in Asante Akim Agogo within the Asante Akim North Constituency during his campaign in the Ashanti Region on Sunday, November 10, Nketiah claimed that this tactic by the NPP reflected a decline in local support for the party.
“They announced their two-week visit to the region when they realised we had come to visit the region. I love competition and so it wasn’t a bother to me.”
“Currently, they have been overwhelmed. In their own stronghold, they bus their party members to their grounds just to boost their numbers,” Nketiah noted.
Meanwhile, addressing Sekyeredumasi constituents, the NDC National Chairman reiterated that the party’s next administration will cancel the double-track system run in Senior High Schools (SHSs).
He also stated that they would also complete all community day schools to increase students’ access to education.
Nketiah also reemphasised the NDC’s commitment to the Free SHS policy but insisted that the party would improve it.
“Our strategy is to complete all 200 community day schools. This will ensure all students have access to education. There will be enough dormitories, classrooms, and all amenities to ensure they all go to school in the same period.”
“The prevailing double-track system, where students go to school for three months and stay home for six months, will be cancelled under the next NDC administration,” Nketiah said.
