The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has nothing new to offer Ghanaians.
According to him the party was bereft of ideas for which reason the country was currently at a standstill.
Speaking at a campaign rally in the Central region on Friday, he noted that “Their ideas (NPP) are exhausted; nothing new to be added. What they (NPP government) will do is what they have already done.”
Adding “Yet, someone (Bawumia) claims, ‘My government is in power, but when my government comes, I will change what the current government is doing and introduce something new.'”
Mahama also criticised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s decision to commission a statue of himself near the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi-Takoradi.

The statue, revealed as part of the President’s “thank you” tour of the Western Region, has sparked controversy, with Mahama questioning its purpose.
While the Western Regional Minister has defended the statue, explaining that it is intended to honour President Akufo-Addo’s contributions to the region such as the rehabilitation of the Effia-Nkwanta Hospital, the construction of the Sinohydro interchange, and the redevelopment of Takoradi Market Circle, Mahama argues that the statue is a form of self-praise, rather than a genuine recognition of the President’s achievements.
“Try and error normally end in failure, Akufo-Addo said we should try him, we tried him and he failed. As if he cares. He went to Takoradi to commission a statue of him, have you heard this before? As a leader, you need people to say good things about your work and not the other way around.
“He convinced all universities to confer on him a doctorate degree when he was already in power. How? I don’t know where he’s taking those doctorates. You have to end your tenure for the universities to rather confer the awards on you depending on your accomplishments,” Mahama said.
