The Ashanti Regional Minister Simon Osei Mensah has called out critics who claim the government has neglected the region, describing them as “dreamers.”
He insists the region has received its fair share of development under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s administration.
Mensah highlighted improvements in road infrastructure, as well as the establishment and upgrading of education, health, and housing facilities for civil servants, as significant areas of focus since the government took office.
The minister also pointed to efforts to improve security and sanitation in the region, asserting that the Ashanti Region has seen more development under President Akufo-Addo than in previous administrations.
During a forum in Kumasi, Mensah showcased various government projects and initiatives in the Ashanti Region, addressing developments in roads, education, health, and other sectors.
He said the government has built modern court facilities across the districts, complete with accommodation for the magistrates and judges overseeing these courts.
“This government has built residential facilities for judges and its kind in Ghana or even in West Africa. The buildings are located close to the Ashanti Regional Courting Council. The facilities are well-furnished, and there are about 20 of them. There are leisure facilities like a swimming pool, a tennis court and a clubhouse. So if someone says the NPP has neglected the Ashanti Region, then that person is dreaming or has not visited where these projects are situated,” he stated.
