An altercation ensued on Thursday, November 7, when the Parliamentary Candidate for the opposition National Democratic Congress in the Asante Akim North Constituency, Kofi Asamoah stormed the premises of Agogo-based Salt FM to demand an apology and retraction from one of the station’s show hosts.

According to the Parliamentary Candidate, the host of the station’s morning talk show had alleged during the programme that he received some finances and other resources from the incumbent New Patriotic Party’s Member of Parliament for the area to fund his campaign

The host of the ‘Anopa Busuo’ programme, Samuel Acheampong was said to have repeatedly made the allegations on air prompting some NDC supporters to listen to the show to alert the Parliamentary Candidate about the development.

The NDC PC later called the station’s official line during the phone-in segment but could not make his submissions in defending the allegations.

He then angrily went to the station with some NDC supporters but was prevented from accessing the studios during the live broadcast.

This resulted in an altercation between the NDC Candidate and some staff of Salt FM.

Head of the News Department at Salt FM, Stephen Appiani who confirmed the incident said no staff was injured.

He however said the management of the station has lodged an official complaint to the police.

The NDC Candidate also denied invading the station with thugs and weapons and threatened legal action against the station.

He also accused the owner of Salt FM who is contesting as an Independent Parliamentary Candidate in the area of using the station to tarnish his image.
