The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Asuogyaman, Pius Enam Hadzide, has challenged the incumbent Member of Parliament, Thomas Ampem Nyarko, to a debate to evaluate their respective records of development in the constituency.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Constituency, Hadzide claimed that he has accomplished more in less than a year as a candidate than Nyarko has during his eight-year tenure as MP.
This statement follows Nyarko’s assertion that his contributions to the constituency over the past eight years have significantly surpassed those of the two District Chief Executives (DCEs) who served during his time.
Hadzide expressed his willingness to engage in a public debate, aiming to provide constituents with a transparent comparison of their contributions to the community.
“It is not about whether your party is in power. He [Thomas Ampem Nyarko] is our incumbent member of parliament. He has to speak for us. He is our agent on development and he is our legislator. He receives every benefit that everybody else receives. I am talking about statutory funding that comes to him. He also keeps saying I have been minister, I have never been minister before and these arguments are never been here nor there.
“Even the things that we have done in terms of infrastructure. I have called for a debate many times and I am saying that if he wants to do a comparison analysis fair enough, unlike his boss, who says that this is an exercise in mediocrity. I am prepared for a debate.
“Ever since I became the parliamentary candidate of the NPP in less than a year, I have done more than Ampem has done in eight years as a member of parliament,” he stated.
