Dr. Kwabena Tandoh, a member of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s campaign team, has asserted that indications point to the fact that the vice president is the only candidate who truly understands the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme and can safeguard its continuity.

Speaking on Citi FM‘s Eyewitness News on Friday, November 1, Dr Tandoh stated that “One of the key things is that data nationwide is showing that about 85% of Ghanaians want Free SHS maintained and what we are hearing on the ground is that they want someone who understands it and can protect it.

“So, the people are saying it is Dr Mahamudu Bawumia that can protect what he and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo started. 85% of Ghanaians want to make sure that we continue to keep free SHS. So, his message is to ensure that he protects free SHS and makes it better and also, he ensures that TVET and STEM education are also really pushed up. This message has really resonated with the people.

“When you hear the ordinary people of Ahafo, they are worried that when a government changes hands, they would lose the opportunity for their children and their grandchildren to have free education,” he added.

Meanwhile, the NPP flagbearer is on a campaign tour in the Ahafo Region of the country and is expected to head to the Ashanti region right after that.

Dr Bawumia has been selling his message and the policies he wishes to implement should he win the 2024 general elections.
