President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on Ghanaians, especially the youth, to use 5G technology responsibly, warning against actions that could hinder the country’s progress in digitalisation.
He made these remarks at the launch of Ghana’s 5G high-speed internet service on Friday, November 1, 2024, in Accra, led by NextGen Infraco.
The company has pledged its support to help Ghana leverage 5G for long-term economic growth across key sectors.
Addressing the audience, President Akufo-Addo emphasised that 5G should not be a vehicle for cybersecurity or data privacy violations.
He urged users and regulators to remain vigilant against potential digital threats.
“The journey ahead requires vigilance and responsibility. 5G is a powerful catalyst for shaping Ghana’s future and, with its powers, comes with a responsibility to use it wisely.
“We must address concerns around data privacy, cyber security and responsible use to ensure that the 5G fosters unity and not division. The youth who make up the population stand to benefit immensely from this digital era,” he stated.
