The Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has clarified the reason behind his decision to introduce a women’s trade empowerment fund rather than a bank.
According to the NPP flagbearer, the empowerment fund will have flexible terms for accessing the money rather than a bank where women will have to go through tedious scrutiny.
Addressing stakeholders at Sankore in the Asunafo South Constituency, on Thursday, October 31, Dr. Bawumia noted that women traders will only need their Ghana Cards to access the funds.
“I would help women traders where they will be given soft loans. This is not a bank where the women traders find some difficulty in accessing loans. We will introduce the Women’s Trade Empowerment Fund to support women.
“With the Women’s Trade Empowerment Fund, the only requirement for the money will be your Ghana Card. That’s all, so it will be easier and it will boost the businesses of the women traders.”
