Kofi Akpaloo, the presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has pledged to implement free ambulance services for patients requiring transportation to healthcare facilities if he wins the 2024 general elections.

In an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV’s Face to Face, Akpaloo expressed his commitment to overhauling Ghana’s healthcare sector, pointing to inadequate investment as a significant concern affecting service delivery.

To achieve this vision, Akpaloo plans to make substantial investments in ambulance services to ensure timely access to medical care for all citizens. He also addressed the critical issue of overcrowding in public health facilities, attributing it to insufficient infrastructure development and a lack of resources.

Akpaloo’s proposals aim to enhance the overall quality of healthcare in Ghana and improve the accessibility of medical services for everyone, particularly the underserved populations.

“Our health sector, we haven’t invested enough, infrastructure wise, we still need to build more hospitals. If you go to some places, they are overcrowded, this a country where when somebody uses an ambulance they have to pay. But why should we pay for an ambulance?

“So, in my government, you will not pay for an ambulance, because we’re going to invest more in ambulance services to enable your wife and kids to have access to an ambulance when they need it.”
