The Vice Presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi, popularly known as Roman Fada has expressed his willingness to step in as the party’s flagbearer, should the law permit him.
Roman Fada confirmed the passing of GFP’s founder and flagbearer, Madam Akua Donkor, during an interview on Angel FM in Accra. He recounted that Madam Donkor fell ill on Saturday and was initially treated at the Nsawam Government Hospital, where she was subsequently discharged.
Unfortunately, her condition worsened on Sunday, leading to her transfer to the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge), where she passed away at 10 p.m. on Monday.
In the interview, Roman Fada said, “If the law says I should be the flagbearer, why not… I am ready to take up the mantle.”
He also mentioned his background in the entertainment industry, expressing hope for the support of his colleagues if he assumes the flagbearer position.
The Ghana Freedom Party is expected to release an official statement regarding Akua Donkor’s passing and the party’s plans going forward.
